Families in the Bentleigh electorate will be able to rely on great local sporting facilities, with a re-elected Andrews Labor Government to deliver $3 million towards a new Bricker Reserve Pavilion.

Right now, despite record levels of female participation and being the most-used sporting facility in Moorabbin, the facilities at Bricker Reserve are struggling to keep up.

It’s why this funding, delivered under Labor, will upgrade the changerooms and Pavilion, making them fit for purpose for the growing number of women and girls playing sport at Bricker Reserve.

The upgraded Bricker Reserve will be utilised by local sporting clubs, with Moorabbin Little Athletics, Omega Cricket Club, the Southern Football Netball League Umpires, Moorabbin Dog Obedience School and Racing Rugby Club all set to benefit.

These clubs, along with the many local schools’ athletics carnivals, equates to up to 10,000 people each year using the facilities at Bricker Reserve.

With these upgrades from a re-elected Labor Government, local clubs – and this local community – will have the great sporting facilities they deserve.

This commitment builds on the Andrews Labor Government’s investments in community sport across Bentleigh, including new lights, upgraded grounds and pavilions, indoor courts, bowling greens and the redevelopment of Moorabbin Reserve.

While the Liberals cut funding for hospitals and schools, and closed TAFE campuses – only Labor will invest in the projects our community really needs.

The Labor Government has made the biggest investment in grassroots sporting opportunities in Victoria’s history, with $420 million dedicated to community sports.
