Upgraded Bentleigh East Kinder now open
A bigger and better Bentleigh East Kindergarten is now officially open.
State Member for Bentleigh Nick Staikos MP and Glen Eira Mayor Cr Margaret Esakoff today cut the ribbon on the jointly funded State Government and Council project.
The upgraded centre includes space for additional children, growing from 27 to 33. It also includes disability access and new toilet and kitchen facilities.
The Andrews Labor Government contributed $350,000 towards the upgrade through a Children’s Facilities Capital Program grant.
The state’s biggest early education build will continue over the coming years, with almost 1,000 new and upgraded kinders to come.
The Labor Government will invest more than $1.6 billion over the next decade to build approximately 785 new kinders and expand 170 existing services.
The is part of a $5 billion plan to ensure every Victorian child has access to at least five hours of subsidised three-year-old kinder by 2022, progressively scaled up to 15 hours per week over the next decade.
This will be the largest social, economic and educational reform ever undertaken in early childhood learning in Victoria’s history.
Quotes attributable to Nick Staikos MP
“We’re ensuring all Victorian families can access a great local kinder, close to home.”
