New youth hub for Moorabbin

Moorabbin now has a new youth hub to prevent young drug users from becoming adult drug users.

The hub is run by TaskForce, which is one of the largest and longest serving providers of youth outreach services in Melbourne’s South and South East.

The State Government provided TaskForce with $100,000 to undertake a refurbishment, ensuring they can continue to provide best practice care and support in a new space solely dedicated to young clients.

Minister for Mental Health, Martin Foley officially opening the newly refurbished TaskForce youth outreach facility in Moorabbin today.

The refurbished headquarters in Station Street will be a one-stop-shop and safe gathering place where young people can access a myriad of support services that deal with addiction and disadvantage.

Since 1973 TaskForce has been assisting people, aged 12–25 with issues including drug or alcohol dependency, anxiety and depression, isolation and unemployment.

In the past two years more than 1,500 people have participated in TaskForce’s youth programs which focus on many issues including addiction, youth disengagement, mental health and high risk taking behaviours.

In the most recent budget the Andrews Labor Government provided a $705 million record investment in mental health and alcohol and other drug support.
