New shed on its way to East Bentleigh
More locals will be building new friendships, skills and community connections, with a new community shed on the way.
Member for Bentleigh Nick Staikos today announced the new community shed at Moorleigh in East Bentleigh will receive $80,000 towards their much needed new facilities, which is being built by Glen Eira Council.
The shed will be the new home of Bentmoor Men’s Shed, which has 120 members, and will cater for a range of activities, including woodworking, metalwork, welding and art projects.
Across Victoria, new men’s sheds will be constructed in eight communities, while 15 other sheds will be refurbished across Victoria, thanks to $879,000 in grants from the Victorian Government.
Men’s sheds are safe and productive spaces for men to work on common projects, and actively participate in their local community.
They also help improve the health and wellbeing of participants by promoting social inclusion.
There are more than 1,000 sheds across the country, with over 360 in Victoria.
The Andrews Labor Government is a proud supporter of men’s sheds and recognises the important role they play in bringing the community together.

“Men’s sheds are vitally important spaces for men in our area to socialise, have a cuppa, learn new skills and give back to the community. I am delighted this funding will help more people and look forward to hearing about the results of this project in the months to come.”
