The Andrews Labor Government is making sure local students have the classrooms and school facilities they need for a great education.

Minister for Education James Merlino joined Member for Bentleigh Nick Staikos at Berendale School in Hampton East to officially open their impressive new $2.48 million school upgrade.

The new facilities include a trade kitchen for students pursuing a career in hospitality, a home economics room, four classrooms and a communal learning space.

It also includes a new deck area enabling outdoor learning for students and additional toilet facilities.

The school’s upgrade will mean teachers can deliver the 21st century education Berendale School students need to succeed.

The Labor Government has invested more than $3.8 billion to deliver new schools and more than 1,300 school upgrades, supporting more than 5,000 construction jobs for Victorians.

The Labor Government will open 100 new schools over the next eight years, ensuring every Victorian child has a great local school and start in life.
