New community shed for East Bentleigh
The new Glen Eira Community Shed has been officially opened at Moorleigh Community Village.
The opening took place remotely last week via Zoom where Member for Bentleigh Nick Staikos joined Mayor Margaret Esakoff, councillors, council staff and members of the local community.
It will be an inclusive space that will mean Bentmoor Men’s Shed will be able to relocate from Moorabbin and cater for a range of activities, including woodworking, metalwork, welding and art projects.
The State Government contributed $80,000 towards this project.
Men’s sheds are safe and productive spaces for men to work on common projects, and actively participate in their local community.
They also help improve the health and wellbeing of participants by promoting social inclusion.
There are more than 1,000 sheds across the country, with over 360 in Victoria.
The Andrews Labor Government is a proud supporter of men’s sheds and recognises the important role they play in bringing the community together.
Quotes attributable to Nick Staikos MP

“After the challenging year we have had, I am looking forward to the local community getting great use of the community shed for many years into the future.”
