Healthy boost for Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre

Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre – Moorabbin Campus will share in a $60 million boost from the Andrews Labor Government to secure the latest advances in medical equipment and modernise vital engineering infrastructure.

Member for Bentleigh Nick Staikos today announced 11 hospitals to receive funding from the $35 million Medical Equipment Replacement Program and 10 hospitals to receive funding from the $25 million Engineering Infrastructure Replacement Program.

These programs help hospitals keep pace with new developments in state-of-the-art medical equipment, while also improving efficiency and reliability by installing new models of hospital infrastructure.

Hospitals across Victoria will replace ageing life-saving medical equipment with the most up-to-date, cutting edge technology that will improve patient outcomes.

In the Bentleigh electorate, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre – Moorabbin Campus will receive funding to replace a superficial X-ray treatment unit.

The Labor Government’s Victorian Budget 2016/17 delivered an extra $2.45 billion for health, so hospitals can admit more patients, reduce waiting times, upgrade buildings and infrastructure and keep Victorians healthy.
