Have your say on a proposed secondary school in East Bentleigh
State Member for Bentleigh Nick Staikos today encouraged local residents to have their say on a proposed secondary school at the East Village site on East Boundary Road.
The Glen Eira Council, in partnership with the Victorian Planning Authority, is currently undertaking a structure plan of the 24 hectare industrial site, which could potentially include both residential and commercial development.
Mr Staikos said it was important to consider a new school for the site.
‘McKinnon Secondary College is set to have around 2200 students in 2018,’
‘The redevelopment of old industrial land in East Bentleigh is a once in a lifetime opportunity to set some land aside and address existing secondary school enrolment pressures in our local area,’
‘I encourage everyone interested in this important issue to have their say.’
Mr Staikos invited local residents to a community workshop to discuss future secondary school provision in East Bentleigh.
When: Monday 4 December 2017 6pm
Where: Valkstone Primary School 44 Valkstone St, East Bentleigh
RSVP: Victorian School Building Authority firstname.lastname@example.org
In addition, Council and the Victorian Planning Authority will be hosting a community forum on the proposed future East Village Structure Plan on the evening of Thursday 7 December 2017 at 6.30pm at Duncan MacKinnon Pavilion.
