Construction starts on Bayside SDS rebuild

Students in Bayside Special Developmental School will soon have the modern classrooms and school facilities they need to get the great education they deserve, thanks to a major upgrade by the Andrews Labor Government.

Member for Bentleigh Nick Staikos today visited the school to kick off construction of the $11.5 million rebuild.

The project will provide specialist education services and first class facilities for children and young people with special needs from ages 2 – 18. It will also provide a playground for children with disability, which will be open to the community.

The rebuild will be delivered in stages, with the final stage due for completion in 2020.

The Labor Government is building the Education State so every Victorian student can get a great education and every community has access to a great local school.

This includes an unprecedented $3.8 billion investment to improve classrooms, upgrade facilities and build new schools across the state.
