BETTER BUS ACCESS FOR BENTLEIGH SENIORS FROM 29 OCTOBER

The Andrews Labor Government is improving access to bus services for seniors in Bentleigh.

Member for Bentleigh Nick Staikos announced today that the extension of Route 823 to bring services closer to Classic Residents Retirement Village will take place from 29 October.

Currently, the closest stop for residents in the retirement village is 450-500 metres away.

Following intense lobbying by 90 year old Doris Giles, Mr Staikos urged Minister for Public Transport Jacinta Allan to make the change to the 823, which will mean residents have a bus stop outside the retirement village – improving access to Southland Shopping Centre, and Moorabbin and North Brighton train stations.

This upgrade is part of the Labor Government’s Better Bus Services program, which is delivering more bus services, more often across Victoria.
