Bentleigh West Primary School to receive new crossing

In a boost for road safety, the Andrews Labor Government has provided $300,000 to improve pedestrian facilities on Centre Road near Bentleigh West Primary School, as part of the 2015-16 Victorian Budget.

Member for Bentleigh, Nick Staikos announced today that works will soon start to turn the current flagged school crossing on Centre Rd near Milton St into a pedestrian-operated crossing.

Upgrading the school crossing is expected to be completed within 12 months.

The upgrade and school speed zone has been fast tracked for the Bentleigh West Primary School, given the strong concern from the local community.

To coincide with the upgraded school crossing, new flashing school speed zone signs will be installed by the end of June this year.

Between the hours of 8am to 9.30am and 2.30pm to 4pm, the speed limit will be reduced to 40km/h with four electronic variable speed signs warning road users of the reduced speed limit.
