The Labor Government has assessed four different options and has determined that a route through Sunshine is the best option which ensures all Victorians benefit.
The Sunshine option is the best for residents on the Frankston line as it will provide the quickest journey with the least number of changes.
Frankston line passengers will be able to choose whether to change at Caulfield or in the CBD, which will slash travel times from the south east to the north west of the city.
The combination of the Metro Tunnel and the Melbourne Airport Rail Link means residents in the South East of Melbourne will be one of the big winners from the new project.
